About Me

I am a priest, a writer, a wife, mother an artist, a theologian and a public speaker. From my children I have acquired a passion for girl’s safety and wellbeing.

Mission

I am working to create a world that is good for girls.

For girls to flourish our world must be safe, our environment clean, our planet healthy.

For girls to flourish their voices must be heard, their choices honoured, and their right to bodily integrity affirmed.

When girls flourish the whole world flourishes.

Milestones and Achievements

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • 2004Ordination at Christ Episcopal Protestant Church, Alexandria, VA.

    I was ordained a Reverend at Christ Church, an Alexandria, Va., Episcopal Church.

  • 2011 - 2016Executive Director: The Desmond & Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation

    • Inaugural CEO of the Foundation • Create systems for identifying and certifying patronages, associations and affiliations for Archbishop & Mrs. Tutu • Create strategic plan for new Foundation

  • 2005 - 2011Executive Director: Tutu Institute for Prayer and Pilgrimage

    • Conceived and created the Tutu Institute for Prayer and Pilgrimage • Provide opportunities for rest, recreation, spiritual reflection and renewal for people of faith and faith seekers • Design and lead pilgrimages, retreats, and quiet days.

  • 1988 - 1993Program Director: Phelps Stokes Fund, New York, NY

    • Managed program to provide college education to Southern African refugees. • Recruited and placed ten students per year at institution of higher education in the US • Solicited waivers of tuition, room and board expenses from universities and colleges

  • 1987 - 1988Program Associate: The Get Ahead Foundation/USA, Washington, DC.

    Managed publicity for micro-loan and school-building program for Black South Africans
